El Burgo de Osma is a small episcopal town with a very well-preserved monumental centre. Its Gothic cathedral and arcaded Calle Mayor make it worth more than a passing stop.

What to do

  • Visit the cathedral and stroll the Plaza Mayor and Calle Mayor.
  • Head to the Gormaz castle, a huge Caliphate-era fortress that dominates the landscape.
  • Use the town as a base for the Río Lobos Canyon, just a few kilometres away.
  • Taste the local cooking: restaurants in the town take part in the Mushroom Tapas Week.

A good plan for a quiet weekend of nature, history and good food.
